Self-Charging Track
Overview
Our project implements a piezoelectric generator track. The team's goal was to design a system that absorbs otherwise wasted kinetic energy as vehicles drive over. The stored energy can then be redistributed to electrical vehicles for charging. Renewable energy resources are necessary for reducing environmental damage as well as creating more efficient ways of travel, communication and developing infrastructure.
Community Benefit
Renewable energy is essential for the future of human existence and advancement. This project is meant to introduce a concept around absorbing the kinetic energy from vehicles in transit, storing that voltage, and reintroducing it to our electrical charging system. As electrical vehicles become more readily available and affordable, it will be crucial to discover new ways of recycling and redistributing energy.
